About Melinda

Melinda Smith Haymons is a passionate plein air painter driven by her love for the outdoors and her fascination with color and design. Whether capturing Wyoming cloudscapes, Mexican seascapes, or figures in Italian sunlight, Haymons is captivated by light, shadow, and the process of transposing paint onto canvas. Her focus and dedication to fine painting have been constant throughout her life, nurtured from childhood through visits to Santa Fe and exposure to The Taos Society of Artists.

A graduate of Colorado College, Haymons' art has been featured in private and corporate collections. Notable commissions include capturing the largest avocado ranch in California and ongoing work with Great Outdoors Colorado Trust, where she paints important legacy projects across the state. Additionally, she has completed a series for The University of Denver’s permanent collection.

Recently, Haymons has taken on a new challenge with a series of minimalist landscape abstractions, which she works on alongside her plein air pieces. She shares with her three children that art is ever-evolving, and the learning process never ends..
